Maud the tourist.

Maud couldn't wait to visit the tourist attraction and very british institution that is Tesco any longer....so we took her there and she was well, despite getting a very comfy charriot to speed around in, .......totally underwhelmed.

Luckily there are lots of other exciting things to do over here, like visiting Alfie's parents.......

and reading magazines in the garden with mum.

Off to Wales today and no internet connection there so, see you all in a few days. Posted by Picasa

Manchester bound

Now i'm pretty sure i was 19 before i flew for the first time but maud was going to get airborne at the grand old age of 5 months. Now she is used to travelling on buses, trams, the underground, cars, and in her pram, but flying was a new thing, was she excited....well yes, but that didn't stop her sleeping through take off.

Wide awake when she met grandma again though.

A nice sunny day too, lets hope that there will be more of these over the next week or two. Posted by Picasa

Ready to fly

Our last day in Oslo before holidays, well Maud and Silje have had one long holiday since Easter, but anyway, also my first full day together with Maud since, well ages ago.
Spent lunchtime in the park.

Maud asked me what it was going to be like flying tomorrow.
So i gave her a short simulation flight, which she seemed to quite enjoy.

Now i really don't believe it is going to be anything like that, is it now Dad?

Just think, tomorrow i'll be up there flying to see Grandma....Yipeee.

weight watcher

Maud was up at the clinic for weighing and measuring today.
64cm long and 7.15kg, you english bods will have to convert this to lbs by yourselves.
and here she is toning her chubby frame in the park with a few push ups.

Another sunny day....

Aasa and Maud.
Maud trying out her new 'how dainty am i?' pose....little finger and everything, but somehow not quite pulling it off.
Maybe it's the fact that you can see up her dress that spoils the effect, ah well, she'll learn.

but she soon reverts to type and starts laughing at her own jokes.....

and stuffing her fists in her mouth.

Back in the city

Maud back from her country holiday gets straight back into the swing of big city life by going to baby club again. Another day lazing around in the park....it must be tough being Maud.

A few hours with a sun hat on doesn't do any good for your hair style.

I think we need to get Maud a bigger bed when we get back from our hoildays in England.
She is such a figit that she often ends up sideways across her crib, still sleeps through the night though, despite having her head jammed between the bars. Posted by Picasa

Strangers in town

Simon and Emma have been in Oslo for the long weekend and we met up with them today. Forgot to check whether Simon had his pram licence but he seemed to do OK.

One of Maud's new tricks, not a very good photo, but you get the idea. Posted by Picasa

Day 12 review

Did i get it finished in time, how does it look ....meh...who cares, Maud is back in town..!
Bigger and fatter than ever before, a lillte bit more hair but the same cheeky smile.
Plenty more skills too, mainly an angry 'fog horn' voice but these will be showcased on a later post in the blog.

She fits inside the cupborads though.

Day 11 review

So last day tomorrow and still a fair bit to do in the kitchen, not to mention tidying up the rest of the flat.
Plenty done today all worktops fixed in place, skirtingboards on but not painted yet.
The plinth beneath the cupboards is on even though i think this is the worst designed bit of the kitchen, they are pretty flimsy.
Went to IKEA again tonight, a slight change of cupboard choice above the fridge, which turned out to be cheaper too. This is the first job on tomorrows list.
Will it all be ready in time....i dunno.

Day 11 update

Up early this morning, just like the last 10, so that i could be up at the DIY (lifestyle centre) with my kitchen worktops for them to cut before it got busy. They were more than happy to do this for me so long as i paid NOK 110,- per cut!!!!
Well they did it and he managed to burn the edge of one of them with his saw, so i have to sand it down a bit now anyway.
Also managed to get one piece of flooring and bought some new skirting boards so quite a productive hour really, it's a nice sunny day and i got to drive the triumph too...lets hope the rest of the day continues this way.

So the floor came up and went down again minus dinges.

Day 10 review

Well a real b*****d (sorry mum) of a day today. I was feeling fighting fit and raring to go this morning only to be ground down by the wall of death. Built the first of the cupboards to go on this wall, now theses are big cupboards (92 x 60 x 37cm), at about 08:30 and it was finally fitted about 16:00...... so many hours i can't even think about it.

I haven't decided which cooker extractor hood we are going to have yet, so i took and hour out in the middle of the day to see what i could find out, this was also an excuse to alleviate my growing unrest about THAT wall. So after some quick internet reasearch i find out that Siemens and Miele have good kitchen vetilators, could i find a stockist in Oslo for either of these makes?....nope. So i phoned Miele and spoke to an extremely customer orientated lady who said she would phone me back after she had found out exactly who stocked them in the Oslo area. OK, cool i thought, i'll give her an hour or so.....no more than 2 minutes later she phone me back and told me EVERYTHING i needed to know. Now that is what i call customer service and it really makes me want to buy their product too. I phoned said stockist, who happen to be a kitchen supplier, and asked them if they had a display model i could come and look at, yes they had.... come on down. Can i come tomorrow (saturday) i enquired......No we're shut on saturdays....Hæ? ...OK so what time do you close today....16:00 Hæ...?...... and the kitchen sellers wonder why IKEA get 90% of all the kitchen business in Norway.

This makes me laugh too, all the house style programs you see on TV always say just pop down to your local hardware shop / glazier / wood stockist and they will be only too happy to discuss you special requirements and help you out....Pah.
I want to get the last two pieces of worktop cut with a nice neat edge and as i really don't have the right tool for the job (circular saw) i decided to phone my local wood stockist to see if they could help...yeah right...phoned three and none of them were interested as i wasn't buying the worktop from them, not even when i said that i was more than willing to pay them to cut it!!! Customer service at it's best.

Looks like these cupboards are going to have to do without worktops then. Posted by Picasa

day 10 update

It's 18:55 on friday evening, so it is exactly 48 hours until Silje and Maud come home.
Mounting the cupoards on the problem wall is finished, (more of this later) and this is the state of the kitchen now. 48 hours....and threre's still a million things to do.

day 10 update

Finally...these two cupboards toook 6 hours to put up due to the wall being both crumbly and wonky.

Day 10 update

Nightmare of a day so far, only one cupboard built and the wall turned out to be just crumbly, had to drill many holes before i hit brick, lucklily all this will be covered by the cupboard itself when i eventually get it up on the wall. Grrrr.
