day 2 of the paintathon today, didn't unfortunately get the wooden detail around the top of the walls painted, but no biggie as the walls and windows are finished. Wohooo.
Didn't all go according to plan though, i had to dash out at 10 this morning for more paint, luckily, there is a paint shop just 2 mins walk away, problem solved.
After a burst of tidying up in readiness for removing the sink unit i went to the DIY stores to get more bits, namely the plumbing fittings and pipe cutter i need to install the tap, thought i had left loads of time for this, but nope.
The plan was to drive up to the DIY store which is open until 6 then drive on to IKEA to get some other bits i needed as they are in the same area and on the way back pop into the workshop where my Austin is and pick up the drill and some spanners.
Well waddaya know the DIY store was completely sold out of 10mm plumbing fittings, popular bits this week apparently. So there i am at 16:55 and the man can't help me.
Doh!
So i had to drive all the way back into Oslo again to go to the DIY shop in town before it shut. Pah.
Luckily for me IKEA is always open, well until 9 anyway, so i went home and painted the last coat on the walls and then went off to IKEA, where i ate meatballs and bought the stuff i needed, picked up the tools from the workshop and headed home. Phew, so lots of time wasted, but the silver lining to my cloud was that i got to drive the Triumph a lot today.
So what to do at 8:45 in the evening, remove the sink unit of course.
I was expecting it to put up much more of a fight than it did, but it seems we have (had) the cheapest crappiest kitchen EVER, it more or less fell apart. So now that's gone and it's time to build a real kitchen.
If i get the floor laid and the new sink unit in place tomorrow i'll be pleased, anything more would be a bonus, anything less, a defeat.
Here you see the result of 15 minutes satisfying work. This includes the time it took to take the pictures.
