Day 9 review

OK, so i have 12 cupboards in position, 2 built but not yet fixed to the wall and 5 still to build. So still plenty of work to do.
It takes on average about 20 mins to build each cupboard and I built 10 today, so that's what, about 3.5 hours on cupboard building alone and this doesn't include all the faffing about in between either.
Then you have to do the difficult bit...fix then to some very wonky walls...this takes a while and goes something like this:
Mark on the wall with a pencil where the cupboard is going.
Offer the cupboard up to the wall, and find correct position, hold it steady with one very weedy spaghetti arm (yes mine) and mark the fixing holes with a felt tip held at the end of the other weedy arm. Replace cupboard on the floor and breathe heavily.
Drill holes in the wall and put in suitable fixing, (some walls are plaster board fixed over wood some are just plasterboard, some are brick and motar...phhufff and all are wonky)
Screw in fixing screws.
Pick up cupboard and place on fixing screws...hold cupbard with one tired arm and tighten screws with the other. Find out where the wonkyness is and place suitable hand crafted packing material behind cupboard to level out (this involves loosening the fixing screws!) Swear a lot when you drop the packing piece and have to start all over again.
Once it's right it is time to stand back and admire the handy work for 10 minutes.
Repeat this process until all cupboards are on the wall.
Now i know where all the time goes.

Theres no way i'm going to be able to sleep tonight, i'm going to be listening out for the sounds of water leaks AND cupboards detaching themselves from the walls.

Not all theses cupboards have been adjusted yet....hence the gaps. Posted by Picasa
