Time warp

Anybody still out there?
2 whole weeks since my last blog update....ummm that'll be the real life back to work no time for much at all really thing, oh, and a computer melt down episode, which still isn't fully resolved. Pah.

So some light entertainment to ease ourselves back into the old routine.

Maud browsing in one of the books from her extensive library.

Tiger....

Lion cub and....

Chicklet.....woahhhhh...

Ufff...better catch my breath ...chicklets are just toooo scary.

My extended family

Still no news about when we can expect Maud to start proper nursery so i'm still doing my 2 days a week looking after my new family members in our own nursery.

Maud, Oskar and Martinus......
Having to look after these 3 children by myself in somebody elses flat for 6 hours and day 2 days a week is probably the biggest responsibility i have had in my entire life, looking after your own child can be scary enough but being trusted with 2 more....?
Still being a parent means that i'm more qualified to do this job than i am to do my other day job (hope my boss isn't reading this).

Luckily they are the best kids you could ever wish to meet, all roughly the same age (Maud is about 10 days younger than the boys) all completely different characters but all equally charming.

We were all a bit unsure about how it would work out when we started, and yes i'm talking about us parents here not the kids, but they have all settled into the new daily routine very well, playing, sleeping, eating and nappy changing is all accomplished without much fuss at all.
Well i think so anyway.

I'm telling you, we can tunnel out of here no problem.

Us..? up to something...never.

Ok, so no tunneling, maybe through the ventilation system then?

There's got to be a way out of here somewhere.

Playtime

here is the reality....they have all just woken up from a good 1½ hour sleep and are raring to get stuff done.
Oskar is the only one who has really mastered the art of walking so far, but the other two are by no means immobile.

Oskar is the real live wire of the bunch, constantly pushing his boundaries and trying new stuff, he likes standing in, on or under things and giving hugs to Maud and Martinus.

Martinus is the laid back one, very thoughtful, tries to keep himself to himself most of the time, stays pretty close to me most of the day while watching the other two throw stuff about.

You all know about Maud already.

Nursery

Well waddaya know, on friday just before we left on our ski trip we received a letter offering us a place in the nursery at Silje's work....yes indeed! The letter didn't mention any start date but we are assuming (probably wrongly) that it might be sometime in April. We have returned all the necessary paperwork now so we'll just have to wait and see what they say.

In the mean time this was the week i had to return to work and the week that we had to find a solution to our baby minding problem.
So we have teamed up with two other families from Maud's baby group who also haven't managed to get proper nursery places and formed our own private nursery group.
Maud, Martinus and Oskar will from now on be spending their days together playing, eating and sleeping.
We are based at Martius's pad as he is the only one with a flat on the ground floor.
So i'm only back at work 60% and the other 2 days i spend looking after the kids. The remaining 3 days it's the turn of Julie (Martinus's mum) and Kaja (Oskar's mum) to take turns doing baby watch duty.

I got to take the first day this week but thankfully i wasn't dropped straight in at the deep end as it was just Maud and Martinus who were there and i only had to do half a day too.

Everything went according to plan apart from the sleeping, which wasn't unexpected, but i'm sure they will get used to it in time.

So two one year olds i managed no problemo. I'll report back on how it goes with all three later in the week.

My first day back at work today in over 6 months wasn't as traumatic as i had imaginged either, it wasn't as enjoyable as looking after Maud obviously, but i survived.

Maud checks out what Martinus has in his library.

Well are you gonna feed us or what?

I don't think we're going to get anything, what shall we do?

Come on feed us i'm 'this' hungry

Aggh, forget it, i'm phoning for a pizza

Ski trip

Last friday afternoon we headed off for a family ski weekend in Hemsedal all kindly organised by my employers, about 90 of us made the trip all together, and a super fun time was had by all.
We decided not to take the coach up with many of the others but hired a car for the trip instead, NOK 1000 + petrol gets you an almost new Volkswagen Golf for the weekend...Bargain.

Now i hadn't put a pair of skis on my feet since way back in december 1996 during my first visit to Norway, although i did snowboard 2 years ago during that years ski trip so i'm not totally without snow how (ugggh)...Anyhow i marched down to the sports shop on friday morning and bought ...yes bought myself a pair of shiny new cross country skis, and boots and erm poles too.
How did it all go, well see the pictures a judge for yourselves.

Maud gets all worried while being strapped in that i'm going to be carrying her.
Check out my super new skis too.

Smiles of relief as she sees that her mother will be carrying her, probably some laughing at me too.

Me looking like the dufus that i am with my skis on....but i'm upright.

Fresh air = sleepy head

A prepared ski run started right outside the hotel so no hassle getting to and from the home base at all, other than that i had skis on my feet of course.
We were interested to see how Maud would like it being carried round like this, it proved to be a great success, on the first day she even slept on the way back towards the hotel.

On the second day of ski activity she slept on the way out.

And at night time she slept as well as ever and continued her habit of performing sleep somersaults while in a strange bed, just like she did when we were in Amsterdam.

It isn't often that Maud travels by car either so the excitement obvoiusly got the better of her.

Snack time

Even eating outside is fun for Maud.
