All nighter

Phheeeewwww, Henny finally slept a whole night without waking.
We were so spoilt with Maud being such a good sleeper from about 4 months old that having Henny wake up every night really wasn't what we were expecting, still she managed all night last night, lets hope it continues tonight. Of course i woke up worrying why she hadn't woken up.
Maud was always a great fan of knocking down the building cups and so the trend continues with Henny, Maud isn't however so impressed that her building skills are so readily and eagerly destroyed by her little sister.

Henny drinks from the blue cup of youth.

Five more of these please.

Home alone

I know, i know, i owe you all a lot of money or something, the once a week update has proved to be more demanding than i first thought.
So as Henny nears 8 months old i finally get my time at home with her, not the super six months of home aloneness as i had with Maud but a more modest 2 days a week for 15 weeks. Still can't complain i'll take what i can.

I actually started my home time last week but that slipped by without time to report as it tends to do, but i glided back into 'dad and baby' mode like i'd never been away. Fantastic.
Spring emerged this week and the sun was shining, until tomorrow when it's going to snow again. My first day at home was a busy one as i got both the girls, luckily (or should i take more credit here) they're good'uns so not too much of a drama to get them sorted ready to take Maud to nursery and then Henny to the doctors.

All ready for the off.

Todays start was more relaxing as Silje took Maud to nursery on her way to work, so me and Henny lounged about played and ate.

Hmmm tasty bits of apple in a little netting bag, Henny got the hang of it pretty quickly after having first tried to eat the handle.

Hmmm thanks, that was sooo good i ate the whole thing.

Fun house

The routine for Henny is as you would expect eat, sleep and play with some interludes for a pit stop if you know what i mean.
Planty of stuff to sit around and play with too, all Mauds baby things plus her own, spoilt for choice really.

Henny - overwhelmed at the choice.

if in doubt - play with a label.

Not all lazing around though still have to get out and about to get some shopping done.
Push Henny in the lift and press the down button, i then run down the 5 flights of stairs and we see who's fastest.....
Ready Henny??

(yes i'm joking)

Random shot of Maud doing her grown up impression. - she does it better than me.

All Change

We have been mean and kept Maud caged up at night in a cot, plans for getting her something bigger and better have been drawn up for a while but logistical problems and a planned visit of G&T meant a postponement..... until this weekend.

Henny is moving into Mauds old room and Maud bumps along one....doesn't take so long to clear a 6 meter square room out.... it used to house my computer and the clothes horse.

ready for the build

and so work grinds to an abrupt halt... typically there was a wrong piece in the kit.... i really really couldn't be bothered going back to the shop and explaining to them what was wrong and what i needed so instead i trooped up to the workshop and drilled some holes to create the correctly fitting piece. (bobbed in and signed the contract for the new car on the way home too.)

Satisfied customer

With all the necessary pieces finally together the build was completed and the moving of much stuff could begin, still need to get her a wardrobe and some shelves but that'll have to wait for another day.

Maud and henny test out the top tier.

Deadlines

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
Douglas Adams

Yeah well i didn't quite make my once a week blog - i had good intentions. The hands on the clock whizz round like never before reaching velocities of helicopter roter blades, or am i getting older and have children.

Happy as Larry has now been superseded by H as H (Happy as Henny)

She might not be so happy to become a teenager and find out that she has the curse of the Conibear super gene.
Yes her hair grows forwards from the crown making any hope of normal hairstyle pretty much impossible. Ah sorry Henny can't have it all.

'Ganma' (sic) and Ucle Tim

Had a visit from that famous double act of G&T last weekend. More a rest for me but Grandma doesn't get a moments peace, there's dinner parties to attend, games to play, pretend sleeping to do - the list is almost endless. Not that i think she minds tho.

maud explains how it is.

Ohhh Grandma your so cute i could eat you up.

Uncle Tim and the old backhand feed swoop

Picture dominoes - truly a game for all ages.

Eating Out

Henny joined us at the table for the first time when eating out and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
More interested in her crinkly ball than anything else but she behaved.

Minnie and her mind

Can't make your mind up - stop and have a think

Errrr...

Hmmmm, think i might actually need the toilet

Wheels

I finally succumbed to the inevitable and bought a car made this century. I have never previously owned a car newer than something built in 1985 so this is a big bound into the motoring 'future' for me.
Not new obviously, i'm pretty sure barring a lottery win that will never happen.

So what did i get....a Passat estate (stasjonsvogn or even station wagon sounds much better)
2001 vintage so i expect it to last me many many years or until i get bored with driving modern.

and how much does a used 1.6 litre 2001 passat estate with 154000 km on the clock cost?
Well let me tell you ...it's a mind boggling 95000 Norwegian Kroner (50 quid short of 10000 quid..... yes ten thousand !) plus 6500 kroner to get my name in the log book, plus 2740 kroner road tax and 7000 kroner insurance.

Welcome to Norway.

Not actually signed the contract yet but after a bit of ummming and aaaaaing and a couple of test drives i said i'd take it.

Not decided the fate of TFW yet - but i'm hoping a sympathetic buyer can be found. I'm going to miss it.

So here it is... got to come up with a non rude name for it now all i can think of so far is 'pissrat'

Wembeerleee

Managed to squeeze in a cheeky little trip over to the UK for a weekend. It's been 10 years since my last wembley visit and in that time it has gone from being one of the crappiest football venues in the country to without doubt one of the best. Gone are the obstructed views, benches bolted to what was standing terrace, no toilets, even the food was cheaper than 10 years ago and they had cleaners making sure everything was a spotless as possible inside the stadium. A national stadium fit for it purpose....finally.
The game itself wasn't all what it could have been, but finals rarely are. We won, that's the main thing, could have done without it going to extra time and penalties though as that made the trip from Wembley to Heathrow for my 20:15 flight a race against time, worked out almost perfectly in the end though - arriving at the airport with 30 mins to spare, although i did have to forgo seeing them handed the cup in order to achieve this. Bah.

Friday night and saturday were spent in Southampton with Tim, my little bro really knows how to look after his guests, tour of the city followed by pub lunch of fish and chips. Sunday morning he served up a cooked breakfast which i regrettably didn't get to capture with my camera before it disappeared down my gullet.

All in all a marvellous weekend.
