Bad habit

Hmmm, getting to be a bit of a bad habit this. I always seem to be playing catch up with blog entries these days, i honestly thought that a teeny tiny little baby would be more work than a 9 month old but that just aint the case, Maud is no longer happy with amusing herself as much as she was and she moves around so fast these days that i can't turn my back for a second and it's this which causes the blogging backlog.
So what else is new around here...

Competition for cuddle time with Silje is becoming a bit of a battle between Pireus and Maud now and neither is particularly willing to give way.

It's rained and rained the last few days so much in fact that the river through the city has burst its banks in a few places. The ducks don't seem to mind though.

In anticipation of high waters Maud donned her diving helmet.

Luckily we were safe up on the fourth floor so Maud got back to chewing her book. Posted by Picasa

Book worm

Don't worry Maud doesn't always chew her books in fact she loves reading stuff and will happily sit still for a good few minutes reading with somebody.

Roll with it

Well at last Maud has mastered the art of rolling over from her back to her front. This really should have happened a long long time ago (well according to all the baby user manuals i've been reading anyway) and i remember blogging saying that it would be anyday now way back in June.
Just shows you what i know........ anyhow she missed out this step somewhere along the way and she really wasn't happy being put on her back knowing full well that if she was on her front she could scoot off where she pleased. So after a bit of intensive roll over training she has now got it and our last remaining hope of her being still in one place disappeared too. Ho hum.

Kitchen (the sequel)

Well, guessed you'd all forgotten about my marathon kitchen build in the summer hadn't you ....(how could you?)
I just know you've all missed these fascinating tales of daring, on the edge DIY escapades....... No?... Oh.
Well you may remember that i never got it finished and since then things have stopped ....still......for a long time.
Well on sunday battle recommenced and i geared up for a tiling session. The window of opportunity was small only 3 hours to get it done from the time Silje and Maud left the flat to when the footy began (United v Chelsea for you not in the know)
Don't be fooled by it's messy appearance, it isn't finished yet, they are stuck to the wall but the grouting is still missing.

Tricky slippers

Auntie Sarah requested more video footage....so as i always do what my big sister tells me.......... here is more.
Maud really gets around fast these days, she even has time for a little wave once shes up.
Nobody likes a show off Maud.

Oslowood

Our backyard has become a film set.
NRK (the Norwegian equivalent of the BBC) are filming a couple of scenes for a childrens drama series in our and our neighbours back yards.
They picked a lousy day to start though, pesky cold and raining.
You really don't realise how much work and how many people go into making something like this until you see it for yourself. The few scenes they are shooting are probably only a couple of minutes long but this is going to take 2 days.
As the pictures show there is mostly lots of faffing about (a technical term in the film industry i'm sure) and a few seconds of filming.

and for all of you who don't give a hoot about NRK and their filming here is a picture of Maud. Posted by Picasa

World of Maud

Not much new in the world of Maud recently, except to say that we are now all fit and healthy again after the last couple of weeks illness.
Just the usual everyday things happening.

Out and about ...

Catch up.

Well, time for a bit of catch up, we ventured down to the deep south of Norway last Thursday staying in both Flekkefjord and Kristiansand to celebrate Mormor Brit's 60th.
Maud's cold cleared up while mine got worse and turned into another super sickness day on the friday, i'm really not used to this being ill lark. Uff.
Another tooth made an appearance too, so thats four lower and two upper now she isn't so keen to show them off though so no piccies as yet.

Last week i also mentioned that Maud had got a new bed, well here is the lady herself trying it out for size.

Pox?

Maud made a beeline straight for the toys when she arrived in Kristiansand at Uncle Trond and Auntie Janne's house.

Cousin Nora wasn't so keen on the interaction with Maud's little grabby hands which might just be as well because on monday we got a phone call saying that Nora had the Chicken pox (vannkopper). So another 10 - 20 days and we'll see if Maud has picked them up too. Blimey.

It was a trip to the zoo for us all on Saturday

Cake!

So after and nosh down at a hotel in the center of Kristiansand it was time to head back to Trond and Jannes and eat more cake...which sadly i didn't have time to photograph. In between eating and sleeping, of which she did lots of both, Maud managed to catch up with nearly everyone at the party too.

Brit and Egil with their grandchildren.

Any of you wondering what Egil has done to his hand?
Well he had corrective surgery (again) for Dupuytren's contracture a disease that seems to affect people more in Scandinavian countries, although you might well know that both Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan suffered from it too. Exclusive company indeed. Posted by Picasa

Faster than a speeding bullet

Maud has found out that proper crawling is much faster than her previous caterpilla crawl.
Like i said before turn your back for a second and she's gone.....Whoooosh.

Still ill...

but almost back up to full speed after the last few days sickness which i may add managed to get us all, Maud became ill last friday, Silje was ill on Saturday and me on Sunday.
I really can't remember the last time i had a really bad cold so i suppose i was due a sick day.

Still I think you'll all agree that Maud is looking a lot better.

Troublesome twosome

Maud has managed to catch herself another cold, so it's been a night and day with lots of snot, (as you may be able to see from the piccies) crying and general unwellness. This time however Silje got to sleep in the living room while i nursed Maud through the night.

She also seems to be getting a couple more teeth too so it was an all round day of ikkiness for poor little Maud.

The second part of the troublesome twosome is of course Pireus the cat.
Pireus is 10 years old this month (we don't have an exact birth date for him) so maybe hitting double figures can explain his sudden odd behaviour.
In all the years he's been here he has never once showed an interest in the bathroom basin...... until now, when it has become his second home.
He now pops into the bathroom several times a day for a drink and if there isn't any water running when he arrives then rather than go to his water bowl he'll wait, no problem.
