Any of you feel that Norway is some kind of utopia just because it tops the Human Development Index? .....well it ain't.
It seems increasingly unlikely that we will get a place at nursery for Maud in time for when i'm due back at work on the 5th March. No places available, or we didn't get picked out, for either the local authority or privately owned nurseries we have appplied for. (We are allowed to apply for seven different nurseries in our district with our applicantion being entered into a lottery with lucky winners being picked out at random, it's not even a waiting list system ....oh and applying outside of our district isn't allowed either.)
We are still clinging to the hope that we can get her into Silje's work or college nurseries but they have long waiting lists and the earliest we could theoretically get places there would be the 2nd April.
The only other alternative would seem to be some kind of day nanny....umm....cheap it isn't.
Maud, oblivious to her lack of nursery place, carries on regardless - after polishing off another jar of baby food she continues to casually sip her water while watching Silje stir her coffee.
