B'day comes early (for real)

Every kids wish come true, when your birthday comes early.
Henny is unlucky / lucky enough to have her bitthday in the summer hols so never gets to invite her friends over for a good old knees up so this year, we had a joint party with her best friend Emilie who has be birthday one month before Henny.

Better than TV

Like i've always said watching the washing machine can be more entertaining than watching most of the crap shown on TV these days, and Paris agrees

Clog festival

On great thing about Norway is that that there are so few people here :-) so you go to a local festival (in this case one based about the a clog factory) you can pretty much guarantee no huge crowds and the kids get to try everything without queueing for an age
Waiting their turn in the erm 'queue'...

to drive.

Maud, needing a bit more practice.

The festival just happened to bee not too far from my place of work so we popped in afterwards so i could give them the guided tour, the equipment that most impressed the kids was the fizzy water machine.
Seen one antenna you've seen them all, right?

Otherwise been a magnificent summer already here, flying a kite got Henny laughing like a nutter, which was good.

And Paris might not like having a bath but showers are good.

Mixed bag

More teeth have gone missing from Henny's mouth, the tooth fairy is the prime suspect.

Everybody seems happy with Paris, even Paris seems extremely content to now be part of our family

This blog posts special guest spot goes to a beer nut.... not just any old beer nut this one is a special beer nut (his compatriots tasted very good) but this one was spared. It just goes to show you you really should check what you are stuffing down your gullet, you just never know.

And here he is, one happy go lucky beer nut. Religious icon ? you decide (other religions are available).

Second mentions for Paris, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth eh, don't believe a word.

When cats do painting....

All I can tell you is that he is lucky it was water based paint. I have the scratch marks to prove that he doesn't do baths, showers maybe but baths, nope.

Ahh the world cup, gloss over Englands frankly laughable attempt to play football and all is good, PIP FTW as the kids might say, possibly.

Little chumptster and Paris the painter enjoyed the matches anyway.

Summer heat

A lazy day yesterday, Maud went off to Møgedal with mormor and morfar. I took little nutsters the short walk down to the beach and home again via 3 different playgrounds.

Paris has settled in better than we could have hoped, super relaxed one minute tearing around like a nut job the next. Too much sticking your head in a paper bag and it being 20 degrees in the house does this to you.

C-day on D-day

So cat-day finally arrived, we had always promised the girls that we could have a cat when we got a house of our own, so after finally getting a house here he is, Paris.
Already made a nuisance of himself and been on the kitchen table.

The first of more?

Blogging, I should do more, so here is more, maybe the first of more....

The Tooth Fairy pays handsomely for front teeth, so Henny pulled one out just for the money.*

Hurrah for 17th of May, Norway's national day, all you can eat free hot dogs, ice cream and waffles for everyone.* One of those days of the year along with the first day of school where I feel obliged to tell the kids to come over here and have your picture taken, just because I'm their dad and I have that power. They are always very willing.*
Taken bright and early before they get chance to spill stuff on their clothes.

Some of those expensive free tasty snacks.

 Brand being nosey:

Amazingly, they did actually manage to snaffle everything put in front of them throughout the entire day, not a crumb wasted here.

17th of May in full technicolour, you want marching bands and people holding flags? Want no more...
(Spot the Maudster along with her class mates towards the end of the video)

17th May 2014 Flekkefjord from matt on Vimeo.

Been pretty hot weather wise recently, gave me a chance to start painting the terrace woodwork. (yes we have a terrace, I checked wikipedia)
A real PITA of a job, made slightly easier than I remember from my childhood watching my dad on the top of a ladder painting the wooden fascia boards by

  • exterior paint now being water based (although I never imagined myself paying over 100 quid for a 10 litre tub of paint)
  • it was sunny
  • I had this view while I was working
  • It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be*

Painting has recently been delayed due to inclement weather / illness / one member of the child support team being away.
Estimated completion of said project is set for summer 2017*

* None of these statements are actually true.
