Uuugggghhhhh.....winter.
Todays weather forcast showed that the first minus tempuratures and, this is the depressing bit, snow, are creeping ever closer to us here in central Oslo.
(Those of you who have been here might remember that Gardermoen is where the airpot is, about 45km away.)
I supose we should consider ourselves lucky really, compared to others in Norway it really is relatively mild in Oslo.
Still.... even without minus temperatures it was a real cold day today this meant we had to break out the winter woolies for the first time.
Maud is back to her best after being poorly this week but still she needed to wrap up warm.....she would probably be toasty warm even if the temperature fell to -50 in this outfit.
No prizes for guessing who knitted this for her!
Cold weather means getting the fire going in our flat too, yes, we are lucky enough to have a real fireplace and even luckier for us Maud's grandfather spends his summer chopping wood so we can be warm in winter.
My incompetence, my irresponsibility, everyday ordinary stuff - but mostly - Maud, Henny and Brand.

The (half) English patient
Maud is poorly!
8 months of life and Maud has her first real bad day.
Half an hour crying just before we were going to go out yesterday afternoon really isn't like Maud at all.
So a quick temperature check showed 38.5 ....Oh
a couple of hours later and its risen to 39.2 ....Oh, time to break out the paracetamol.
4 o'clock feed went down without a problem, and then came straight back up again with all the rest of the days food in tow, i never knew a babies stomach could hold soooooo much. Maud is officially sick.
Still, the paracetamol seems to be working and she is down to 38.6 and not looking quite so bad as before.
A couple of hours later and Maud starts burning up, 39.4 and crying again ...eek, and we can't give her any more paracetamol. A trip down the doctors revealed nothing serious amiss, but she wouldn't drink and wouldn't eat so not much else to do other than wait, give her another paracetamol, put her to bed and let her sleep it off.
As before Maud gets my place in the bed and i get the living room floor.
Today shows a much improved little Maud, hungry as a bear but still not tip top, until i got the camera out......

Maud had her mates round for a chin wag on Wednesday,

The hungry caterpillar
We have now reached the stage where nothing is safe from Mauds grabby little hands and this is how she gets about, not so much of a crawl but more of a cross between a breakdance and a caterpillar shuffle....still very effective though.
Upwardly mobile
Despite carrying lots of extra weight these days Maud manages to get around quite well and as uncle Tim pointed out last week, Maud keeps her eyes firmly fixed on the prize at all times.
Weigh in
I know, i know.
It's been a whole week since my last blog posting, it was difficult to get computer time with Auntie Sarah and Uncle Tim both needing their 'fix' of computer nerd time last week, oh erm, and my hard disk was full too...Doh.
Up bright and early this morning for a 9:00 am appointment at the clinic, another vaccination and and Maud's 8 month control.... I know she strictly speaking isn't 8 months old until tomorrow but who didn't lie about their age when they were small?
Come on, you all remember saying you were 10 when you were really only 9¾
Anyhow Maud's new vital stats are
Weight: 8.2kg (about 13lb 10oz)
Length: 69cm
Head circumference: 43.6cm
Everything else fine and dandy despite having me as her father....amazing.
little 'wing nut' Maud
Maud getting measured.

Family portrait
Today is our anniversary..... yes really, it is 10 years ago today since mine and Silje's eyes met across a crowded, smokey dancefloor in a nightclub in Manchester called 42nd Street, the rest as they say, is history.
To mark this momentus occasion i thought it would be nice to take a family portrait just to show how grown up a we have become, i should have known better.
Our Family.

Teeth cleaning
Maud has another gleaming new tooth poking through her gums so she does her best to keep them clean.
